Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing organization in supporting day to day operations by improving cost, safety, quality, as well as part of the launch team to implement new product/engineering changes. Understands and executes the Tenneco process and drives execution of deliverables, both individually and from the team.

Key Responsibilities –

• Develop, implement, and monitor manufacturing process standards at the plant to ensure uniformity, efficiency, and compliance with corporate and industry best practices.
• Provide manufacturing expertise to multiple departments, troubleshoot production issues, and drive process improvements to enhance product quality, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
• Lead or support the introduction of new processes, materials, and technologies across the facility.
• Create technical frameworks to effectively transfer knowledge between product development and manufacturing.

• Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities in relation to materials, product characteristics and the applications within the manufacturing process(Bending, welding, assembly and robot familiarity).

• Ensure the plant adheres to global quality standards, including ISO, ASTM, and customer-specific requirements, through audits, process monitoring, and corrective actions. In cases where are there no internal standards leads creation of internal standards.
• Work with R&D, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to optimize material properties, manufacturing efficiency, and end-product performance.

• Supports R&D Department with the development of new materials and production launch process from a processing standpoint.
• Assists with the CQI-15 audit system to ensure all requirements are achieved, sustained, and improved.
• Provides technical information and expertise concerning processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations, which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.

• Utilizes statistical methods in product evaluation and analysis, analyze and present data using different tools to gain knowledge about given situations/experiments, draw conclusions and make decisions in relation to the objectives of the projects.

• Develops, procures, establishes, and maintains in-process metallurgical equipment and tools.

• Establishes protocols and standards for welding, bending, canning and assembly, etc. purposes and/or to determine compliance with manufacturing specifications and standards.

• Plan and implement trials and plant-based operations to develop materials and fabrication procedures that meet cost, product specification, and performance standards.

• Creates and oversees training to personnel in quality and production team members on testing equipment, tools, and procedures.

• Develops systematic approaches to problem resolution leadership regarding material performance and material conformance to the specified requirements, coordinates and facilitates problem resolution teams to determine root cause and implements corrective active measures. Provides support with internal quality issues related to manufacturing properties.

• Drive initiatives to reduce energy consumption, emissions, and waste in manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
• Assess, recommend, and support capital expenditure (Capex) initiatives related to equipment and process upgrades, ensuring optimal investment in new technology and infrastructure.
• Travel as required to various Tenneco manufacturing locations worldwide to provide hands-on support, conduct audits, and implement global metallurgical initiatives.

Required Skills -

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering or related field or 6 plus years of manufacturing experience.
