POSITION SUMMARY

Perform a variety of skilled tasks pertaining to maintaining, repairing and installing electrical or electronic equipment and systems.  Performance tasks including troubleshooting and preventative maintenance as well as collaboration with teams in order to continuously improve operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  2. Set-up and installation of machinery.
  3. Movement of machinery.
  4. Repair of machinery as needed.
  5. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
  6. Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions. 
  7. Overtime as required/requested.
  8. Properly manage the disposal of oily wastewater, oil-soaked rags and pig blankets, hazardous waste, and other material as necessary in accordance with 40 CFR 262, 40 CFR 265, and Part 111, 121, and 167 of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Statutes and Rules

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman Electrician certification
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Theoretical understanding of use and application of programmable controllers.
  • Understanding and experience with electronic principles.
  • Strong mechanical background including transmission theory.
  • Basic working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Understand and follow written and oral instructions in the English language.
  • Perceives the full range of the color spectrum (Example: working with electrical wires).
  • Measures distance using a tape measure.
  • Perform physical inventory of materials.
  • Observes, compare, or monitor data to determine compliance with prescribed operating or safety standards.
  • Use calibrated instruments to measure electrical current and voltages.
  • Draw, interpret and read graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids.
  • Install, replace, or adjust light bulbs, belts, or similar objects.
  • Comprehend and make inferences from written material.
  • Make precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintains static arm-hand position (Example: operating an electric hand drill).
  • Makes continuous or repetitive hand-wrist movements (Example: using a screw driver).
  • Make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects (Examples: assembles pegs, washers, collar units and inserts them into a small hole).
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually over time.
  • Lift arms above shoulder level (Example: working on ceiling wiring system).
  • Work in small cramped areas.
  • Climb or raise up to reach objects above eye level.
  • Ability to work at heights greater than ten feet (Example: working in a bucket truck or on a ladder).
  • Operate power driven machinery such as roto-hammers, bandsaws, drill presses, or welders).
  • Move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet).
  • Use common hand tools, such as hammers, saws, screwdrivers, or similar tools.
  • Push or pull cart loaded with equipment.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Possible skin exposure to Weld Dust, Paints, Chemicals, Cleaners and other industrial fluids; all registered in the on-site MSDS.
  • Will work on alternate shifts and/or modified shifts including, but not limited to a weekly work schedule that may start on Wednesday and end on Sunday; not working Monday or Tuesday, as an example.
  • Fast paced, results oriented work environment.
  • May encounter extreme heat, fumes, odors, dirt, dust, noise, moving objects.

 

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Shall be working in cramped environments, such as the inside cabinets of Robovents.
  • Shall be exposed to Weld Dust which container CrIII and trace elements of CrVI; while being provided Tyvek full suit, N95/N100 Compliant Full Face Respirator, and other PPE.
  • Shall be working in lifts and shall be expected to have no issues working over equipment and near the ceiling and at elevations.
  • Shall be working with various types of paints, Alkyd, Enamel, Acrylic, Urethane, Epoxy, and others, as necessary.
  • Ability to see details at close range, at a distance through peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Shall perform significant tasks overhead; where the arms are extended above shoulder height.
  • Shall be in environments that sometimes are over 100o F and/or below freezing.
  • Will be exposed to activities that are both loud and have vibration exposure.
