Tenneco Lansing is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-orientated HR Intern to support the Human Resources team at our manufacturing facility. This internship provides hands-on experience in a wide range of HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and administrative support. The ideal candidate will gain exposure to the daily operations of HR in a manufacturing environment, with a strong focus on talent acquisition and workforce support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruiting & Staffing
- Assist with posting job openings on internal and external job boards.
- Review resumes and applications to identify qualified candidates.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews with candidates and hiring managers.
- Support pre-employment processes, including background check, drug screens, and onboarding documentation.
HR Operations & Support
- Assist in maintaining employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support onboarding and orientation programs for new hires.
- Help organize employee engagement initiatives and HR communications.
- Track and report data related to hiring, turnover, and other HR metrics.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department as needed.
Compliance & Best Practices
- Assist in ensuring HR policies and practices are consistently applied.
- Help support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team orientated environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Interest in manufacturing operations and workforce management.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field. Sophomore or higher preferred.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university program during the internship.
- Availability to work 20 hours per week.
- Prior coursework or experience in HR, recruiting, or office administration is preferred but not required.
