Job Summary:

Supervises program buyers responsible to successfully launch programs; secures competitive bids for new sourcing nomination based on defined bidder lists.  Ensures close communication between Global Purchasing Commodity teams, business unit, program management, application engineering and manufacturing. NPIS participation; daily ECM delegation; aligns tooling payment terms, material and logistics protocol, risk assessment and manufacturability reviews.

Roles & Responsibilties:

  • Coordinates suppliers on new parts development for Proto and Series development for product launches.
  • Provides active representation on the project teams- PM/Engg & supplier follow-ups until SOP +90 days to ensure Quality, Delivery, Cost support to program SOP launch.
  • Having Good know how on technical processes and their cost evaluation for best cost negotiations with suppliers to meet program target.
  • Negotiates technical and / or supply agreements with suppliers involved in "early supplier involvement" to ensure Tenneco design and developed technology is protected.
  • Utilizes supplier selection in alignment with purchasing strategies and new product performance requirements.
  • Drives value analysis / value engineering activity during launch phase.
  • Supports improvement of supplier launch procedures to minimize inventory obsolescence and supports lean manufacturing needs in alignment with operational expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.           

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree; preferably in Engineering arena.         
  • Minimum 6+year of related work experience.
  • Prior program purchasing experience in relevant Shock absorber relevant company.

  • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Project, Excel, etc.) and knowledgeable of ERP systems (SAP desired).
  • Functional understanding of Six Sigma, Lean, Continuous Improvement, BOMs, ERP, TS16949.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Previous 2-wheeler shock absorbers experience desired.
  • Motivated, self-starter who is familiar with a range of materials and manufacturing processes, e.g. steel, stamping, casting, forging/machining, rubber and plastic.
  • Demonstrated ability and skills to support new product launch process (i.e. APQP, PPAP documentation, project planning).

Travel:

  • Ability to travel within India & internationally, as required.
