Job Summary:
Commodity buyers are responsible for securing competitive prices from supplier, Costing and negotiation skills. Ensures close communication between Global Purchasing Commodity teams, business unit, program management, application engineering and manufacturing. Negotiation with supplier to meet the company targets
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Tenneco may make reasonable accommodations to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position.
• Having good knowledge on commodity like Stamping, Machining, Plastic and Rubber
• Coordinates with suppliers for new RFQ and get competitive quotes for new / Export parts
• Good exposure in supplier process analysis and ensure meeting the customer requirements for export/Domestic business
• Having Good know-how on technical processes and their cost evaluation for best cost negotiations with suppliers to meet management target.
• Identify the new sources which are capable to do product for domestic and export requirements
• Utilizes supplier selection in alignment with purchasing strategies and new product performance requirements.
• Drives value analysis / value engineering activity
• Supports on company management target on cost reduction (Localization /VA-VE / Resourcing) Activities
• Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree; preferably in Engineering arena.
• Minimum 10+years of related work experience.
• Purchasing with commodity experience in relevant to Shock absorber relevant company.
Skills:
• Strong leadership skills and team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written across various levels.
• Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Project, Excel, etc.) and knowledgeable of ERP systems (SAP desired).
• Functional understanding & Continuous Improvement, BOMs, ERP, TS16949.
• Ability to interpret and communicate engineering drawings and specifications.
• Motivated, self-starter who is familiar with a range of materials and manufacturing processes, e.g. steel, stamping, casting, forging/machining, rubber and plastic.
