Job Description:

    1. Manages supplier relationships and develops strategies across specific commodities to achieve the best value for Tenneco.  Leads cross-functional commodity teams to implement strategies, and will provide guidance to commodity buyers.

 

  1. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Drives improvement in BOS metrics (quality, delivery, service and cost) for specific commodities.
    2. Manages commodity savings and strategies for areas of responsibility.
    3. Champions cross-functional VA / VE and TVM activity between Tenneco and suppliers.
    4. Provides day-to-day coaching support to other buyers on tactical and strategic issues.
    5. Drives flawless launch strategy requirements for the supply base with all buyers on all programs.
    6. Ensures teams are aligned with department and corporate goals, objectives and values.
    7. Ability to assess issues and develop action plans to bring quick and effective resolution.
    8. Drives activity to identify and source low cost country suppliers.
    9. Prepares, presents and negotiates proposals and long-term commercial agreements in collaboration with Exec / Commodity Director.
    10. Ensures department and suppliers comply with Purchasing policies and procedures.
    11. Negotiates regional and global contracts.
    12. Leads by example in terms of focus on detail, execution of tasks and professional interaction with both internal and external contacts.
    13. Special projects as assigned by Purchasing leadership.
    14. Aggressively pursues objectives and tasks.
    15. Ensures buyers achieve commercial and timing objectives for launching programs.
    16. Explores and exploits opportunities within the supply base to support Tenneco business objectives.
    17. Comments on and defines need for action and drives accountability are aligned with supplier launch.
    18. Attends program and management review meetings.
    19. Other duties as required.
    20. Develop and manage project plans in alignment with Front-End PE leader in Global regions.
    21. Optimize resource allocation to maximize efficiency and productivity. Adhere to agreed KPIs and ensure project is ontrack with deliverables.
    22. Support BOM management, ECN executions, VAVE and CI projects, TEN-Plus documentations, program status reporting to Regional PE

 

  1. Skills:
    1. Must possess leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, strong negotiation abilities, excellent decision-making skills and sound analytical ability.
    2. Strong leader of cross-functional teams.
    3. Corporate SCM experience with international business desired (LCC preferred.).
    4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    5. Excellent negotiation skills and proven success working under pressure driving projects to closure.
    6. Familiarity with drawings, specifications, materials and manufacturing processes.
    7. Self-directed with the ability to work with all levels of the organization within multiple cross-functional areas.
    8. Solid computer and organizational skills.
    9. Must possess excellent analytical ability.

    1. Ability to travel as required (estimate 30-50%).
  2. Physical Demands & Work Environment:
    1. Vision abilities required include close vision.
    2. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
    3. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
