SUMMARY

Set up and operates brehm cut-off machine and bushing dial machine and other equipment as needed by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Sets Up and/or Operates all equipment in department as assigned.  Usual responsibility will include multiple set ups and operation of both a brehm cut-off machine and a bushing dial machine.

 

Uses blueprints and route cards to set up assigned equipment.  Set ups may include length change, tooling changes, arbor adjustments, etc.

 

Uses hand jack to stage materials in work area and to remove finished parts.

 

Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions.

 

Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.

 

Inspects and manufactures production parts to blueprint specifications. 

 

Performs minor machine repairs including preventative maintenance.

 

Starts machines and equipment to test operation following repair.

 

Assists Mechanical Engineers  and Maintenance Technicians to modify sketches or computer generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism.

 

Assists in training of Operators and Set up Operators.

 

Performs quality control checks including first and last piece inspection to ensure all products are made according to blueprint specifications.  Uses micrometer, calipers, pi tape, tape measure, and feeler gages to ensure product quality.

 

Completes annual updates of OSHA required training as assigned by supervisor.

 

Maintains high standard of housekeeping in the department.

 

Completes other duties as assigned such as material handling, etc.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Must be able to set up and operate all pieces of equipment assigned.  Primary responsibility will be for a brehm machine and bushing dial machine.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated ability to set up and operate all assigned equipment.

 

Successfully use measuring devices including micrometer, calipers, pi tape, tape measure and feeler gages.

 

Blueprint reading skills required.

 

Must be able to read and follow line sequence sheet for parts production.

 

Must be able to use hand jack to stage materials and remove completed parts.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to operate computers/automated data entry systems.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form including product blue prints.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift certification preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles.

 

The work environment may be hot, particularly during summer months. The noise level  is usually loud.

 

Personal protective equipment is required including but not limited to hearing protection, eye protection, and foot protection (steel toed shoes).
