We are looking for an Accountant who will provide financial assistance to department managers as well as prepares and analyzes month end reporting.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  1. Compiles and analyzes financial information documenting business transactions.  Example include cost of quality, scrap, usage, set-up, cost of production, slitter activity, efficiency and capital.

 

  1. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital; prepares management reports to summarize current and projected company financial position.

 

  1. Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.

 

  1. Prepares budget and analyses variances to budget for local business areas.

 

  1. Assists in development of annual operating plan for various business areas.

 

  1. Prepares and analyzes spending for various business areas.

 

  1. Prepares month end financial statements for various business areas.

 

  1. Prepares month end BOS charts for various business areas.

 

  1. Assists in preparation of corporate required schedules.

 

  1. Prepares month end journal entries.

 

  1. Assists in development of standard costs and helps maintain standard cost system.

 

  1. Prepares weekly/monthly forecasts for various business areas.

 

  1. Prepares various balance sheet reconciliations.

 

  1. Assists in development of Capital Approval requests.
  2. Interacts with outside auditors on physical inventory and during quarterly/annual audits.

 

  1. Assists in tracking/monitoring of capital expenditures.

 

  1. Prepares weekly payroll file and submits to payroll vendor for processing.  Review and close payroll file daily.  Balance payroll entries, book payroll corrections, and books month-end payroll accrual.  Reconcile hourly payroll accrual.

 

  1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in finance/accounting from an  four-year college or university; 1-2  years related experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting.  A general working knowledge of accounting and payroll.  Cost accounting experience preferred.

 

PC SKILLS

Must have strong PC skills - word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, and database programs, demonstrated ability to develop complicated spreadsheets.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management and/or public groups.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts.  

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
