Sr Business Intelligence Engineer
Job Responsibilities
A Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer specializing in Power BI, AWS QuickSight within finance and manufacturing is responsible for designing and maintaining data-driven solutions that support financial reporting, operational efficiency, and strategic decision-making.
- Develop Power BI, AWS QuickSight dashboards to track key financial metrics (e.g., revenue, expenses, cost of goods sold, profit margins, working capital, etc.).
- Provide financial insights on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) teams with data-driven decision-making.
- Support PowerBi tenants.
- Automate financial reports to reduce manual effort and enhance accuracy.
- Create dashboards to monitor manufacturing KPIs (e.g., production efficiency, machine downtime, yield rates, scrap rates, and overall equipment effectiveness [OEE]).
- Track supply chain costs, procurement efficiency, and vendor performance.
- Design and maintain financial and manufacturing data models in Power BI.
- Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics 365, etc.), MES, AWS redshift and other operational databases.
- Ensure data consistency and accuracy across finance and production units.
- Automate and optimize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Implement row-level security (RLS) and role-based access control (RBAC) to ensure data security.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations (GAAP, IFRS, SOX) and manufacturing standards (ISO, Lean, Six Sigma).
- Maintain audit trails and financial data governance policies.
- Optimize Power BI reports, DAX calculations, and data models for faster performance.
- Improve report refresh times and optimize queries for large datasets.
- Implement best practices for data visualization and interactive reporting.
- Integrate Power BI with AI/ML tools for demand forecasting, cost predictions, and risk assessments.
- Work closely with finance, manufacturing, supply chain, and IT teams to align reporting needs.
- Support CFOs, plant managers, finance analysts, and operational teams with actionable insights.
- Provide Power BI training to enable self-service reporting for finance and manufacturing teams.
- Monitor Power BI reports and troubleshoot data-related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
What We're Looking For:
- 10+ years’ Experience with Datawarehouse, Datalake ETL platforms.
- 10+ years’ Experience with Data Modelling framework such as Data Vault 2.0/Star Model/ Snowflake Model.
- 10+ years’ Experience with Business Intelligence technologies such as PowerBI, Tableau, Quick Sight
- 8+ years’ Experience SQL scripting including SCD1, SCD2 & SCD3 logic.
- 8+ years’ Experience working on some of the relational databases (AWS Redshift/Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/PostgreSQL/MySQL, SAP Hana) on AWS and/or on-prem infrastructure.
- 5+ years’ Experience with NoSQL solutions such as DynamoDB, Big Table, MongoDB, Cassandra.
- 5+ years’ Experience with Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS components of the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack
- 8+ years’ Experience with the tools and technologies used by the Microsoft SQL Server BI Stack, including SSRS and TSQL, Power Query, MDX, PowerBI, and DAX.
- 5+ years’ Experience with Python/Java/Scala programming languages.
- Agile methodology and skill, including experience with Scrum Ceremonies and work management tools (e.g., (JIRA, Confluence, ADO).
- Work as a cross-functional team member to support multiple work streams and products.
- Excellent Communication Skills.
- Experienced in AWS Foundation and Organizations.
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science and or equivalent work experience.
- Microsoft Certification: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.
- AWS Certification -Database, Data Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
