Transportation and Logistics Supervisor

Location: Greenville, MI

About Us:

At Tenneco, we’re on a mission. Guided by our Core Values and a winning mindset, we are committed to becoming the most trusted partner, manufacturer, and distributor in the transportation industry. What drives us? Our people are passionate changemakers who bring energy, dedication, and innovation to everything they do.

In this role, you will own plant transportation planning and execution in accordance with approved lanes, routing guides, modes, carriers, rates, and system workflows. You will balance cost, service, capacity, inventory, and risk while maintaining shipment visibility and disciplined exception management. Through P3 Integrated Supply Chain, you will move the plant from reactive freight decisions to planned, system-based, and measurable logistics execution.

Who are you?

  • Transportation Planning Expert: You maintain accurate lane and PFEP inputs and use demand, packaging, lead time, weight, cube, frequency, and service requirements to define mode, routing, consolidation, and capacity.
  • Routing and Carrier Compliance Owner: You execute approved sourcing decisions, routing guides, contracted carriers, and escalation rules. You prevent independent carrier changes and unmanaged spot freight.
  • Execution and Visibility Leader: You tender, dispatch, monitor, and recover shipments through the approved TMS process, keeping pickup, transit, delivery, and exception status visible.
  • Premium Freight Controller: You enforce approval, reason codes, cost ownership, root cause, and recurrence prevention for premium and expedited freight.
  • Cost and Performance Operator: You track freight cost, premium freight, routing compliance, utilization, carrier service, TMS usage, and action closure.

Who will you set to win, and how will you do that?

  • Supply and Demand Planning: Align transportation capacity and timing with supplier requirements, production schedules, and customer shipments.
  • Regional Logistics and Procurement: Provide accurate lane data, execute approved strategies, and escalate carrier, rate, or capacity issues with evidence.
  • Warehouse and Production: Coordinate dock schedules, staging, pickup, dispatch, and recovery so physical operations support the transportation plan.
  • Finance and Accounts Payable: Support freight-cost visibility, approvals, accruals, invoice accuracy, and controlled premium-freight spending.
  • Customers, Suppliers, and Carriers: Create clear expectations, timely communication, and accountable issue resolution.

What’s going to be your legacy?

  • Planned Transportation, Not Reaction: Standard lane, route, mode, frequency, capacity, and consolidation decisions made before execution.
  • Reliable Shipment Execution: System-based tendering, visibility, escalation, and recovery with fewer service failures and surprises.
  • Controlled Freight Cost: Higher load utilization, routing compliance, and cost transparency with reduced premium freight.
  • Accountable Carrier Performance: Visible service trends, structured escalation, and corrective actions connected to plant impact.
  • P3 Logistics Maturity: A documented RASCI, trained backups, review cadence, KPI evidence, and controlled deviations.

Experience:

  • Transportation Planning: Experience with lane design, mode selection, routing, consolidation, frequency, capacity, and load utilization.
  • Transportation Execution: Experience with tendering, dispatch, shipment visibility, exceptions, claims, and carrier escalation.
  • TMS and Routing Compliance: Hands-on experience with transportation systems, routing guides, carrier master data, and system workflows.
  • Freight Cost Control: Experience analyzing freight spend, premium freight, utilization, rates, and improvement opportunities.
  • Plant and Regional Collaboration: Ability to connect plant execution with Procurement, regional Logistics, Finance, suppliers, customers, and carriers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Operations or Logistics Supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of TMS, ERP, Excel, and transportation analytics or visibility tools.
  • APICS, CILT, Lean, or Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • Strong urgency, service orientation, negotiation awareness, and structured escalation skills.
  • Fluent in English and the local plant language, as required.

What we Offer:

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being.
  • Work and learn in a fast-paced environment while shaping the P3 Integrated Supply Chain operating system.
  • Hands-on exposure to Lean, ERP, Analytics, cross-functional problem solving, and plant transformation.
  • Culture committed to excellence, simplicity, accountability, and becoming best-in-class.
