JOB SUMMARY:

The EHS Coordinator assists Environmental, Health & Safety at the site, aligning plant strategic goals to EHS requirements. This role supports the EHS Manager to deliver on objectives, compliance, and safety improvements. The safety of our employees is our No 1 priority!

PURPOSE:

  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular walkthroughs of manufacturing areas to identify hazards, unsafe behaviors, and compliance gaps.
  • Support Incident Investigations: Assist in investigating workplace incidents, near misses, and injuries. Document findings and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support ISO 14001 and 45001 Compliance: Assist in the coordination of systems and programs within the facility, including but not limited to regulatory agencies, ISO 14001/45001 Internal Audit and third-party contractors, as needed.
  • Maintain EHS Documentation: Keep accurate records of safety audits, training attendance, incident reports, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Deliver Safety Training: Help develop and present safety orientation and refresher training for employees, including PPE use, hazard communication, and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor Environmental Compliance: Track and report on environmental metrics such as waste disposal, air emissions, and chemical storage. Ensure adherence to EPA and state regulations.
  • Promote Safety Culture: Engage with employees to encourage safe work practices and participation in safety programs. Support initiatives like safety committees and recognition programs.
  • Assist with Regulatory Compliance: Help ensure compliance with OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations. Stay current on changes in legislation and industry standards.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments: Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Support Emergency Preparedness: Assist in maintaining emergency response plans, conducting drills, and ensuring readiness of safety equipment (e.g., eyewash stations, fire extinguishers).
  • Coordinate Safety Supplies and Equipment: Monitor inventory and ordering of PPE, spill kits, signage, and other safety-related materials.
  • Use EHS Software Tools: Input data into incident tracking systems, generate reports, and analyze trends to support continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
  • Internship or co-op experience in EHS within a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, EGLE, and MIOSHA regulations.
  • Experience with incident reporting, safety audits, or training coordination is a plus.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret safety regulations, technical manuals, and company policies.
  • Strong written communication skills for drafting reports and training materials.
  • Effective verbal communication for presenting safety topics and engaging with diverse teams.

Other Skills and abilities:

  • Capable of interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to manufacturing operations
  • Able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing conditions
  • Sound judgment in identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with EHS management systems or incident tracking software preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups during safety meetings or training sessions

    • OSHA 10/40 Hour
    • First Aid/CPR
    • HAZWOPER
    • GSP
    • RCRA
