Program Engineer (CTOH / Light Vehicle)
Location: Grass Lake, MI / US
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Responsible for system lay-out and oversight of packaging activities
- Serve as technical interface to the customer
- Serve as single point of contact for non-engineering teams (commercial, purchasing, program management, etc)
- Identify program critical risks and define actions to mitigate
- Incorporate Design to Cost Target
- Compiles, cascades and adheres to customer and Tenneco requirements
- Transfer customer milestones/deliverables into internal development/launch process and DVP&R
- Ensure adherence to customer milestones
- General (Program) alignment with Sales and Program Management
- Lead Technical Reviews and Presentations
- Deep understanding of customer process, requirements and program timing
- Capable of tracking Program Engineering requirements to the DVP&R
- Responsible for delivering program design to engineering / customer deliverables and targets and ensuring that assigned engineers are meeting their assigned targets
- Adheres to and generates Standardization for products / processes
- Leads Problem Solving Techniques and initiatives
- Leads Continuous Improvement Projects
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE / PRODUCT RELEASE / ENG. PROCESS AND TOOLS:
- Lead engineering activities for assigned design & ensure adherence to GRD standards
- Good understanding of development and launch management processes and deliverables
- Proficient understanding of product characteristics impact on performance (sub-system and system)
- Interface with Tier II suppliers for non-tech Subject Matter Experts products including develop, cascade and verify requirements
- Responsible for tolerance stack-up (interface with design)
- Understand GD&T for exhaust systems
- Basic understanding of Tenneco’s manufacturing capabilities
- Identify / Confirm / participate DFMEA content
CROSS FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Guides MET, Purchasing and Manufacturing teams with design, manufacturing and selection of manufacturing and supplier processes to achieve engineering targets
- Capable of assessing the impact of customer / Tenneco requirements on system architecture and performance
- Proficient reporting on DVP&R
- Capable of understanding analysis results (1D, CFD, FEA, acoustic modeling, etc) for hardware trade-off decisions
- Able to assess supplier reports / findings (internal and external) to ensure program requirements are met
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- 5+ years of industry experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Master’s or Ph.D. may substitute for industry experience
Position will be classified as Engineer or Senior Engineer depending on the experience of the candidate.
