Senior Data Scientist (m/w/d)

 

Join our newly forming Engineering Data & Analytics team as a Data Scientist, where you will leverage your STEM background to develop models that improve product performance predictions based on our rigorous testing protocols. This role offers the unique opportunity to help build and influence our data infrastructure and technology stack from the ground up. As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the digital transformation of our company, actively contributing to the development of innovative, data-driven solutions that enhance our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with the manufacturing and R&D departments, transforming complex IoT-data into actionable insights that drive our business forward.

 

Success depends on challenges – these are your tasks

  • Develop machine learning models to improve product performance, focusing on the use of time-series sensor data and other complex IIoT datasets.

  • Collaborate with teams across manufacturing and R&D to translate business needs into robust technical solutions, from exploratory data analysis to the deployment of operational systems.

  • Utilize the Python data science stack (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch) to build and optimize models, ensuring they are both scientifically rigorous and highly practical.

  • Drive the end-to-end process of model development, validation, and implementation, ensuring solutions are scalable and effectively integrated within our existing systems.

  • Design intuitive dashboards that allow non-technical stakeholders to perform self-service analytics, fostering data-driven decision-making across departments.

  • Demonstrate initiative in learning new techniques and methodologies that can benefit the team and broader company objectives.

  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making within the company.

 

Success depends on ability – This is your profile:

  • Excellent master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.

  • At least 3+ years of experience in a data science role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL and familiarity with basic machine learning libraries and tools.

  • Experience with deep learning and handling industrial time-series data is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Enthusiasm for building new systems and a keen interest in playing a pivotal role in a growing team.

  • High degree of independence, excellent team collaboration skills, and a passion for industrial manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

  • Background in software development is advantageous.
