The responsibilities of the Production Team Leader on the Finish or Primary side include ensuring the safe and productive operation of the manufacturing processes and equipment. A Production Leader must be able to successfully perform and train operators in all areas of production, including Compound, Cure Press, Bagger, Finishing Line, Inspection, Drill Operator, etc. Also, to anticipate and resolve any problems that restrict the production process and to ensure that all policies are followed. All other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Follow and promote all safety practices; to lead the team's proactive attention to safety, reporting all issues, and keeping work area clean and healthy. Inspect all equipment prior to use and report any discrepancies immediately.
- To assign job functions to other associates, reporting production and safety issues; ensure materials are staged as directed by the Production Scheduler; ensure the production lines have all necessary materials and orders for production. Accurately and neatly produce all required documents, including production results, performance updates, quality issues, etc.
- Working knowledge of SAP; able to perform and train employees on SAP production entries and retrieve necessary information; ensure quality of products and lead team in scrap elimination.
- Set-up, operate, and troubleshoot all equipment within assigned areas. Know how to perform Preventative Maintenance and adjustments for all equipment; complete PM's as required. Forklift trained and able to train others.
- Train and motivate employees to peak performance; follow and train employees on standard work for assigned area and all other work instructions; keep team members informed; provide leadership by example for safety, performance, attendance, teamwork, personal integrity and support of company policies and goals.
Required Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1-2 years manufacturing leadership required
- Solid reading, writing and mathematics skills including decimals & fractions; ability to follow written and oral instructions; read and interpret precise measuring instruments; strong organizational skills; work well with others on the team; teachable, accurate, neat, respectful of others, flexible, manages time well, punctual, reliable, responsible, positive approach to work, initiative
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing preferred
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Programs preferred
