The Maintenance Technician I, II, or III is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the plant's business goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Following all safety rules at all times, using all PPE as required daily; maintain proactive attention to safety, including keeping work area clean and orderly. Always inspect all equipment prior to use and report any discrepancies immediately
- Must perform according to the company's core values
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Perform mechanic skills including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required service; diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments; perform a variety of plumbing and carpentry functions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, aerial lifts, and material handling equipment
- Detect faulty operations, defective materials and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
- Complete all tasks accurately with little to no safety and quality defects
- All other jobs as assigned
The Maintenance Tech II and III may be asked to fill in as a Maintenance Team Leader when needed.
The Maintenance Technician level will be determined on the required qualifications, functional experience, and system or knowledge level. The required basic qualifications for a Maintenance Technician are:
- High school diploma or GED certification
- Successful completion of Maintenance Apprentice program or Technical Certification (equivalent experience may take the place)
- 2-4 years of maintenance manufacturing experience
- Successful completion of pre-employment basic skills test, drug screens, background screens, and physical demands testing
- Must have a valid driver's license and able to operate a forklift
The Glasgow Tenneco team would prefer a candidate that has experience with robotics, a strong electrical background in factory automation with the ability to troubleshoot and repair photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, servos, variable frequency drives, linear scales, tachometers, and encoders.
A qualified Maintenance Technician would also possess the required knowledge in the following:
- Solid reading, writing and mathematical skills including decimals and fractions
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work with a high level of precision
- Computer and Keyboard Skills
- Troubleshooting skills (pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic, mechanical)
- Basic fabrication/welding
- Effectively utilizes electrical, schematic, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical blueprints
- Principles and importance of proper torque values
- Read and interpret precise measuring instruments
Preference would go to the candidate that has knowledge of lean manufacturing, and PLC troubleshooting/programming skills including CPU, back planes, I/O Boards, high speed counters, modules, devices, and communications.
