POSITION SUMMARY:

Working alongside press operators to ensure that all presses are continuously running.  Has the ability to run presses 1 – 5.  Will also work alongside a set-up operator and tool & die to complete change overs for all presses.  Will be responsible for the planning and coordinating with set up and tool & die to ensure that presses are continuously running.  Coordinating with materials to create a schedule for all presses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform as a team member alongside a set up team member and tool & die which requires the ability to learn, perform preventative maintenance. Set-up and operate machines and to be able to rotate to all presses.
• Ability to run all presses and understand the standard work to ensure that all processes are being followed.
• Meeting change over time limits
• Work on a schedule to ensure the continuous running of all presses and minimize downtown as much as possible.
• Providing a schedule that goes into detail over when each press will go into change overs or scheduled maintenance.
• Providing a schedule that outlines what material will be running on each press and the duration.
• Responsible for the training of all new press operators and providing detailed reports back to the team leader and/or group leader that goes over their progress during training.
• Employee must be able to handle materials and tools, operate machines, assemble and inspect all product of varying shape, sizes and weights.
• Employee must perform the above within acceptable quality, quantity, performance and safety standards.
• Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on each machine to assure machines are in safe working condition and complete daily safety check-off lists.
• Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions. 
• Overtime as required/requested.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follow machine repair procedures if breakdown occurs.  Complete basic repairs and adjustments of minor problems.  Report all machine problems to Team Leader and/or Maintenance.
• Clean the machine and surrounding work area.
• Operate machines as assigned to assist co-workers at other workstations as needed.
• Assist in 5S advancement
• Assist in implementation of Lean principles

• Provide additional coverage to the presses during breaks or unforeseen absences.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read and understand work orders, machine manuals, directions, charts and safety regulations.
• Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and the ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairs
• Basic math skills
• Ability to follow directions and flexibility to respond to problems and changes in job assignments.
• Ability to work well with others
• Ability to learn and perform as a press operator on any of the presses.
• Worked in press department for a minimum of 6 months and is able to run multiple presses.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• High noise levels
• Varying temperatures (hot to cold)
• Fumes at welding stations
• Confined work space
• Buffing/grinding dust in some areas
• Wet slippery floors in some areas

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Extensive standing, walking, upper body twisting, arm and hand motion, some foot motion
• Manual dexterity
• Manual movement of pipe throughout machining process (15 lbs.)
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs required
• Good visual ability
• Frequent skin exposure to chemical-based fluids such as coolant, drawing compound, lubricating oils, etc.
