This is a unique opportunity to join us as a plant Maintenance manager reporting to the Plant Director for our Valve seats and guides plant in Coventry ( 230 employees).
 

The position has 5 persons as direct reports.

 

In this key role you will develop and implement the Maintenance strategic plan to ensure machine reliability is achieved and maintained, at optimum costs, in order to enhance both company performance and long term business development.  Support team development, continuous improvement projects and initiatives to drive operational excellence and maximize value utilizing Lean principles.   

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure EHS compliance at all times
  • Ensure the scope of the annual Site Services and Preventative Maintenance programme is appropriate and by using technical experts, ensure that the programme is delivered against time, cost and quality
  • Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to manufacturing and engineering problems
  • Develop the PM Systems to include Autonomous Maintenance
  • Drive the effectiveness of the maintenance software to manage downtime recording, Mean Time Between Failure, Mean Time To Repair and spares management
  • Provide safe, reliable and fit for purpose engineering solutions
  • Communicate with all departments on the technical state of each engineering activity across site at all times
  • Planning, budgeting and management against targets
  • Managing concurrent projects
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to deliver innovation and proven technology across the manufacturing site to ensure that the needs of business are met on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure engineering rigour is achieved within a lean and rapid manufacturing environment
  • Maximize the team’s ability, creativity and problem solving to deliver beyond expectation
  • Develop the individual members of the team including the completion of personal development plans, skills matrix, monthly reviews, annual appraisal and performance management as required
  • Support special projects as required which may cover technical advances and capability studies
  • Effectively integrate new concepts that can aid the assignment of equipment related to advanced process capability and material handling concepts
  • Use lean principles to analyze specific problems and create action plans for cross functional teams
  • Management of process engineering

 

Required Skills

 

  • Time served Multi Skilled Engineering qualification
  • Previous experience of Managing a multi-skilled technical team
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Lean Certification or six sigma background (yellow belt/green belt)
  • Automotive Management Experience highly preferred
  • Extensive Technical Engineering experience with evidence of delivering proven and commercially successful innovation and delivering multiple projects
  • Track record of delivering multiple concurrent projects
  • Proven business communicator with the ability to present at all levels
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Full UK driving license
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement
