This position will report within the DRiV business group. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement commodity strategies to achieve corporate, purchasing & business line goals/objectives.
- Organize and lead commodity strategy meetings to cross-functional/cross-business audience through region
- Work with DRiV operations to develop scope of work for services, equipment etc to use for RFP with existing and potential suppliers
- Organize and lead activities to support performance based requirements regionally for the assigned commodities for specific KPI. Priorities to be defined by calendar year including sourcing ratio, auction, index (savings %), working capital (payment terms, cash flow) and supplier rationalization.
- Supply base rationalization, development & spend management/segmentation for geographic considerations, Best Cost Country (BCC), Localization objectives, BU/plant-specific needs, new technologies, marketing/product strategies and cost management goals.
- Proven experience in negotiation levers including e-rfp and e-auction
- Possess knowledge of supply market trends and characteristics (e.g., associations, trade publications and indexes, etc.).
- Utilize commodity expertise and commodity strategies to create/update Business Plans and Strategic Plan Metrics: incl. Cost reduction, interim negotiations, BCC objectives, supplier performance objectives, advanced technology drivers.
- Set negotiation strategy and direction for commodity negotiation settings, include appropriate team members.
- Drive cash flow improvements initiatives (payment terms negotiations, consignment stock agreements, stock level rationalization, shortening LT, etc.)
- Organize and Lead Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) for your assigned commodity
- Develop Supplier Partnerships/Strategic Alliances as necessary to support/enhance commodities strategies.
- Drive supplier approval process to ensure requestors are continuously trained to provide key supporting documentation.
- Serve as regional focal point for escalation of all supplier relationship issues for
- Utilize supply base knowledge to manage risk to supply potentially caused by financial instability or insolvency at individual suppliers or related to supplier’s customer bankruptcy proceedings.
- Enforce Tenneco’s supplier requirements.
- Coordinate with Tenneco’s legal team to ensure contractual obligations minimize risk to the Company.
- Able to accommodate business line/plant-specific and geographical commodity requirements.
- Travel Required: 5-25%, Domestic and International.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Business / Materials Management or Logistics required, with a preference for an MBA. CPM and/or CPIM certified is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement and/or Materials Management.
- Demonstrated background and proven experience with RFQ processes, data analysis and commodity strategies.
- Demonstrated background and proven experience with high-level supplier negotiations and materials management.
Skills:
- Working with and/or leading a Global team to drive substantial savings for the organization.
