The Plant Controller / Finance Leader directs plant accounting practices, responsible for all accounting functions related to the preparation of financial statements, business planning, budgeting, expense control, analyzing and making recommendations regarding profitability of the business, while interfacing with business unit management and corporate accounting. Acts as a financial advisor to plant management providing financial reports, analysis and planning, budget control, accounting methods and profit/loss reporting.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for account reconciliation, cost accounting, variance analysis, forecasting and flashing.
  • Financial analysis and reporting to business group management monthly, quarterly, annually.
  • Designs and implements sound internal controls that will ensure the safeguarding of company assets in a cost effective manner.
  • Prepares various statistical reports, as required by plant management to assist with business decisions and development.
  • Takes initiative to search for and recommend changes and improvements to systems and productivity measures.
  • Manages all accounting activities involved in billing, accounts payable, payroll, capital assets, general ledger and standard costing systems and ensures that all activities are in compliance with US GAAP, IRS, SOX and F-M established plant, group and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Manages internal and external audit requests.
  • Maintain the accuracy of the financial analysis of the appropriation request (AR) submissions.
  • Development of personnel in purchasing and finance department.
  • ​​​​Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to purchasing and finance. 
  • Disciplines department personnel as needed; administers union contract; enforces company policies; handles oral and written grievances. 
  • Ensures compliance with all EHSMS policies and procedures.
  • Instructs on safe work practices and promotes safety consciousness while practicing safety procedures, enforcing policy regarding safety and making recommendations when needed. 
  • Sees that company policies and programs are effectively made known; cooperates and assists in the development of effective communications.
  • ​Promotes a positive employer-employee relation.  
  • Maintains departmental efficiency regarding timeliness and quality of reports and procedural requirements.
  • Maintains inter-departmental relationships of such a caliber as to promote confidence, integrity and cooperation.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, integrity and leadership capability.
  • Demonstrates leadership ability, conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Strong prioritization, time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a matrix management reporting relationship.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of management and hourly employees.
  • Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
  • All other duties as may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or related field required. CMA/CPA/MBA is strongly recommended.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum three (3) years Controlling Experience required.  Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in manufacturing environment with a focus on either cost or managerial accounting preferred.  Preferred experience with purchasing standards.
  • Experience within a union environment, foundry environment, heavy industrial environment and previous supervisory responsibility preferred.
