The Customer Planner serves as the primary interface between customers and the manufacturing plant, ensuring customer demand is accurately translated into production and delivery plans. The role is responsible for managing customer orders, forecasts, delivery schedules, backlog, and service performance while coordinating with production, materials planning, logistics, and commercial teams.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer demand by processing forecasts, schedules, and orders while maintaining accurate ERP data.
  • Analyze demand fluctuations and communicate impacts to cross-functional teams.
  • Validate customer requirements against production capacity, inventory availability, and supply constraints.
  • Own the customer order portfolio from order receipt through shipment and delivery fulfillment.
  • Monitor open orders, backlog, delivery commitments, and On-Time Delivery (OTD) performance.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact for order status, delivery updates, shortages, and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate recovery actions, escalation management, and premium freight activities when required.
  • Collaborate closely with Production Planning, Materials Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Support inventory optimization by monitoring demand trends, excess stock, and obsolescence risks while maintaining service levels.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on forecasting accuracy, delivery performance, root cause analysis, and Supply Chain Excellence.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Customer Planning, Customer Service, Demand Planning, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Operations.
  • Experience within an automotive or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience working directly with OEM customers is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Advanced German skills
  • Knowledge of demand planning, order management, inventory control, and logistics processes.
