Accountant

This is a great opportunity to join us as an Accountant in our Shared Services office having as main responsibilities the accounting activities for the office in compliance with Romanian accounting and tax legislation.

What you will do:

• Ensure timely and accurate booking of journal entries in SAP and ensure proper back-up documentation for manual postings (local and US GAAP adjustments)
• Perform month-end activities as per Tenneco policies (opening/closing of SAP modules, inter-company reconciliations, currency revaluations, etc.) as per the closing calendar
• Prepare balance sheet accounts reconciliations, with supporting documentation according to Tenneco policy and within the required time-scale
• Follow-up of disputed/long-outstanding items to ensure integrity of the balance sheet.
• Maintain up-to-date procedure documents in English to satisfy Tenneco’s Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Support internal/external audit and Internal Control Office requests
• Prepare or review tax statements (VAT, Corporate Tax, Withholding Tax) according with Romanian legislation
• Collect the required documentation for the services invoices
• Is responsible for the contract management and purchase order management for the Bucharest location.
• Ownership regarding travel expenses procedure: verify all the travel expense reports to comply with Group T&E procedures and book them into SAP
• Ensure good collaboration with tax consultants and fiscal authorities
• Internal support for local functions: HR, purchasing administrative, IT etc.
• Participate in cross teams projects

What will make you successful:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics (Accounting, Banks)
• At least 3 years accounting experience within a multinational environment/accounting services company
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting from Trial Balance to P&L/Balance Sheet, US GAAP is a plus
• Thorough understanding of Romanian fiscal requirements for VAT, Corporate Tax and Withholding Tax
• Experience with the SAP ERP system
• Good Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to work in English
• Hands on and problem solver mindset
• Good communication and time-management skills
• Tenacious and detail-orientated working style, with a drive to resolve issues
