Shift: As assigned (may include off-shifts and weekends)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily execution of maintenance, repair, and facilities operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role supervises skilled trades and facilities personnel, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, supports production uptime, ensures regulatory compliance, and maintains facility infrastructure and utilities. The Supervisor partners closely with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Contractors while operating within a unionized environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety & Compliance
• Enforce safety policies, Lockout/Tagout procedures, machine guarding requirements, and PPE standards.
• Promote a strong safety culture through audits, safety talks, and corrective actions.
• Ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure contractor safety compliance.
Maintenance Operations
• Supervise daily mechanical, electrical, PLC, HVAC, and facility maintenance.
• Schedule work orders and prioritize repairs.
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Coordinate emergency repairs.
• Drive equipment reliability improvements.
Facilities Management
• Oversee HVAC, compressed air, plumbing, lighting, fire protection, and grounds.
• Manage facility vendors and capital repairs.
• Support inspections and audits.
Leadership & Supervision
• Lead hourly employees in a union environment.
• Administer coaching and discipline per CBA.
• Support training and succession planning.
Planning & Budgeting
• Manage budgets, inventory, and contractor costs.
• Track KPIs and performance metrics.
• Support capital planning.
Continuous Improvement
• Drive TPM, 5S, Lean initiatives.
• Perform root cause analysis.
• Improve sustainability and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years maintenance experience
• 2+ years supervisory experience
• Union environment experience preferred
• Strong safety leadership
Preferred
• Associate or technical degree
• PLC troubleshooting experience
• Facilities management experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb and stand for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Manufacturing environment with industrial hazards.
• Off-shift and weekend support may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Expanded)
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours).
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated platforms.
• Ability to kneel, bend, squat, twist, and reach overhead frequently.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection, respirators, and fall‑protection harnesses when required.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and around moving machinery.
• Ability to visually inspect equipment, read gauges, screens, schematics, and work orders.
• Ability to hear alarms, radio communications, and equipment sounds in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations and equipment breakdowns.
• Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, humidity, dust, vibration, and noise.
