Responsibilities
- Manages the activities of equipment and facilities.
- Oversees Maintenance, Tool Room, Electrical/Mechanical Design, and project groups.
- Sets overall technical direction for the entire facility.
Specific Duties:
- Ensures a safe working environment in the department by holding supervisors accountable for compliance with all safety policies and procedures, prompt accident investigations, and corrections and closures of identified safety issues. Promotes continuous improvement in safety and environmental areas.
- Directs and coordinates department resources to efficiently support plant operations to meet customer, production and plant quality goals.
- Manages and oversees manufacturing projects to meet future strategic goals and competitive pressures as a best value producer.
- Recommends and implements engineering solutions to improve product quality, tooling and facilities.
- Develops and trains personnel to fill supervisory positions in the engineering functions.
- Participates in the plant Environmental, Health and Safety Program.
- Participates with the Plant Manager and plant staff in strategic planning, business plans, market goals, etc.
- Is the designated alternate for the ISO 14001 EHSMS Management Representative, as well as the TS 16949 Quality Management Representative.
- Is responsible for the Capital Appropriations projects. Is empowered to make decisions about the appropriateness of new technology and feasibility of implementation and is responsible for maintaining all projects within assigned budgets.
- Maintains authority to initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of non-conformities relating to all manufacturing processes.
- Maintains the further authority to stop non-conforming activities until the deficiency or conditions are corrected.
Education
- B.S.M.E or 4-year degree in related field preferred.
Experience
- Five years of experience in plant level engineering management.
- Project management.
- Planning and coordinating skills.
- Communication skills.
