Job Summary/Overview: 

The Global Sub System Development Senior Engineer serves as both a technical expert and team leader, responsible for driving the design, development, validation and continuous improvement of suspension sub systems and components. This role combines advanced engineering proficiency with leadership skills to guide a small team of engineers and technicians toward achieving project and organizational goals. The senior engineer leads the planning and execution of sub system development and test programs, oversees data analysis and reporting and ensures that all development activities meet performance, quality and safety standards. In addition to technical work, this position involves mentoring team members, coordinating tasks, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary and international teams. A high degree of professional maturity, accountability and communication skills are essential, as the role requires working with colleagues and stakeholders located in different regions and time zones. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong development skills and components ownership, problem-solving ability, adaptability to evolving technologies and a long-term commitment to both technical excellence and people development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
Lead medium to large sized project independently or a large sub-project within a larger development project
Take ownership on tasks assigned from chief engineers, PLEs and the more senior engineers in the project team.
Create requirements for the projects and assigned tasks
Create SoRs for components and assemblies
Create and own the engineering timing and planning for the assigned projects
Lead the resource management of the assigned projects and aligns this with supervisors or managers
Assign tasks and work packages to other team members. The assigned tasks should be followed up on a regular basis
Collect input to create a DVP based on existing DVPs or create new tests to create a complete DVP
Provide input on budgets for equipment, test setups and necessities for special projects
Create bill of materials (BoM) 
Create and write Development Reports
Create Design Work Order and provide input to CAD designer for advanced parts and assemblies
Lead D-FMEA meetings to create a new D-FMEA for an existing D/S-FMEA
Technical expert in one field or component
Interact independently with regional suppliers

 

Qualifications:

Diploma: Master or higher degree in Engineering.
Fluent in English 
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in automotive


Preferred:
Modeling and simulation skills in Matlab/Simulink, Amesim, Carmaker or any other domain/software.

Reporting Structure: Reporting directly to the Global Sub System Development Manager (located in Belgium)
Location: China 
Travel: willingness to travel up to 20%
