Senior Engineer - Analysis

DIMENSION / SCOPE OF THE JOB:

• Strong fundamentals of thermodynamics, strength and structural mechanics, engine dynamics, finite element analysis, numerical solution methods and Manufacturing process for powertrain components
• Advanced knowledge of combustion engines and simulation
• Goal- and result-oriented, very independent, and organized working style
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Main Tasks        

• Calculations and simulations are organized and carried out holistically in accordance with internal and external requirements with a focus on "Rings & Liners".

• Work results are documented in an appropriate form and presented and communicated to internal and external customers. This also includes the preparation of or cooperation in the preparation of technical reports and specialist publications as well as the determination and provision of all information necessary for the technical application support of customers. The position holder will also ensure that experience is passed on to the other calculation engineers in the department.

• The continuous further development of the software used and, if necessary, the in-house development of new, improved programs and calculation methods in accordance with changing requirements is promoted or measures to generate corresponding improvements in calculation procedures are initiated in consultation with the team leader. This is to be achieved, for example, through cooperation with the internal "test bench" and "measuring room" departments, e.g. through intelligent and mutual data exchange or data integration. In addition, cooperation with the calculation departments of other FM product groups should be established and maintained.

• The "Product Engineering" and "Sales & Application" departments are supported in the introduction of new products by means of calculations, presentations and customer visits, and these departments are also involved in internal development projects at an early stage to meet the requirements of market-oriented development.

• Tasks within the scope of Technology Rings & Liner development projects are supported.

• The applicable requirements of the quality management system (ISO/TS 16949) as well as the instructions and specifications according to the "Environmental and Safety Management Manual Technology Burscheid" are complied with.

Requirements

Education, professional experience, knowledge

- Degree in engineering (FH/TH; mechanical engineering)

- Experience in the field of calculations

- Basic knowledge in the field of engine technology and development

- English skills in Word and writing

- Basic understanding of mathematics, mechanics, and physics

Skills: Hypermesh, Abaqus, FEMFAT, GT-Power/ Wave

Experience: 3 to 6 yrs. experience in Automotive industry
