Shipping Supervisor

General  Responsibilities:

Manages the shipping and receiving departments and all of the processes of these areas including (but not limited to) supervision and contract administration for all hourly employees (stock handlers, truck drivers, chemical handlers, material runners, etc), maintenance and compliance with all required regulations, inspections, licensing requirements, and other record retention requirements related to both the operation of our commercial trucks and our chemical handling processes, the management and movement of materials required by the production departments, and initiatives designed to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these processes.

Key Duties:

1. Leads, coaches, directs, disciplines, and generally supervises hourly employees.
2. Stays current with all related DOT laws and regulations and ensures complete compliance.
3. Works with customers, vendors, and internal personnel to ensure efficient use of inbound and outbound freight.
4. Resolve any disputes related to freight damage claims.
5. Maintains proper inventory levels of packaging supplies and manages the system discipline to ensure that the proper supplies are available when needed.
6. Understands the product flow throughout the plant and manages the pick-up and delivery of production materials to the production areas.
7. Uses initiative to continually look for ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the areas of responsibility.
8. Regularly uses, and trains employees in the use of computer systems to ensure timely and accurate reporting, transactions, and production of required documents.
9. Ensures customer specific logistical requirements are met (IATF 5.3.1).

Skills/Training Requirements:

1. Successful experience in the supervision of production personnel and processes a must.
2. Experience with DOT laws and regulations preferred.
3. Experience with chemical and/or hazardous waste transportation and handling preferred.
4. Experience and competence with computer systems a must
5. Ability to enlist the cooperation and support of peers, and work as a member of a team.
6. Excellent communication skills are a must.

Education Requirements:
BA or BS Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
